Furdeco Open Day 2023

In late 2023 Furdeco hosted our first and very successful industry Open day at our HQ in Walsall.

Where and Why?

The event on a beautiful sunny day in September 2023 at our Walsall HQ was an opportunity for us to develop relationships and learn in detail what the delivery industry needs to improve our service. Our business has thrived on service quality but also personal relationships and general industry events have been less fruitful in developing these.

Who Attended?

We welcomed multiple businesses with over 75 industry experts, executives, and leading solution providers to showcase our business and host in-depth discussions on the 2-Person Home Delivery sector. Partners, Supply Chain and clients also were allowed to showcase their brands. These included: eBay, ClearCycle, John Pye Auctions, Kite Packaging, and DG International which showcased stands but also hosted round table discussions and networking sessions.

With a focussed group of guests, our event allowed a relaxed environment to discuss with intent how we can progress the sector for the benefit of end consumers.

“Team John Pye thoroughly enjoyed the Furdeco Open Day. It was great to connect with so many like-minded companies all with a heavy focus on sustainability. Furdeco is helping us with our sustainability goals by providing the latest innovations in the delivery sector. This is an area very important to John Pye Auctions and our position as circular economy industry leaders. John Pyes provide our clients with green routes to the secondary market for returns, overstocks and other retail/IT Assets. Furdeco and the Open Day have helped John Pye collaborate with others in the retail industry to implement greener asset disposal solutions. We look forward to the next event and growing our partnership with Furdeco as they continue to excel.”

Attendees were given a tour of our impressive new warehouse facility and invited to ask questions before enjoying some amazing lunch at an onsite food truck. Our senior management team, and staff from all areas of deliveries were also on hand to assist and answer questions. Our guests welcomed this opportunity to put a name to a face!

What We Learned

An overwhelmingly positive day for us resulted in some key learning which we’ll implement. Key Outcomes:

  • Agility
Furdeco is not a faceless enterprise, and we welcome the challenges which arise operating a nationwide carrier framework. Our team is available, and we can react quickly to our service issues with ownership and clarity. Our Clients love this and emphasise the need for ownership and willingness to help is a core asset of our service.

  • Communication
Reviews of our service are plentiful and available for all to see, and it’s always been one of our strengths. Understanding that communicating with our Clients’ customers and internal account managers can mitigate the potential for end-user frustration was highlighted.

  • Recycling
Our clients already know about our dedicated recycling centre in Tipton, and our Reverse Flow service option. However, for their own targets, understanding how our new facilities, new fleet and business practices reassured them that we are committed to our environmental impact reduction.

  • Technology
Delivery service in general has thrived by implementing technology frameworks which allow the customer to be aware of their delivery instantly and with transparency. The nuances of 2-Person delivery require a robust process and so we are again investing in our infrastructure to simplify the visibility of products from clients and customers. We are moving on from industry-standard technology to adopt more powerful data-driven solutions which prove a simpler user experience. More on this soon!

  • Trends
Customer expectations for deliveries are higher than ever and both us and our Clients are acutely aware of this. Our Driver Training Academy showcased how Furdeco not only developed technical skills such as damage limitation and installations but also soft skills around customer communication and respect for their homes. Reputation Delivered works as a guiding principle for our service.

  • Business
We have generated new and extended business from the event. New Clients have been onboarded and older partners including a bed retailer have expanded accounts. Our London facility was welcomed to streamline our southern-centric Client delivery timeframes.

Our Commitment to Excellence

At Furdeco, we take pride in delivering exceptional service. We are grateful for the positive feedback and look forward to continuing to exceed expectations.

We were thrilled with the turnout for our first Open Day!  The sun was blazing, and it set a real precedent for the whole day.  It felt like all our attendees appreciated the hard work and effort that went into organising the Open Day and enjoyed being at our HQ in Walsall.   The Furdeco family came together to ensure all our visitors were welcomed, watered, fed and left well-informed of our offering.  The real evidence of our success on the Open Day was the new Clients we have partnered with and the additional business from our existing partners.  We are already looking forward to another Open Day where we can showcase our business!
